Hey, I’m Garric – this is my story…
I wanted to be a physiotherapist from high school. I applied at the end of high school and wasn’t accepted into Physiotherapy medical school.
Fortunately, I excelled at sports and received a cricket sporting bursary to attend the University of Cape Town. This allowed me to start a basic science degree at the same time. Academically, I did really well in my first academic year. I was then accepted as a physiotherapy student at WITS medical school in 1991.
After qualifying in 1994, I was already travelling with sports teams as a physiotherapist and loving every minute. I was already being mentored, from 1993, by an amazing physiotherapist, Arie. Michaeli, who was at the cutting edge of many areas in physiotherapy. He became very well known for solving difficult knee pathologies using “The McConnell method”.
